Scholarship

The Columbia County Democratic Committee Scholarship Program has been operating since 2010, awarding 58 deserving seniors each a $500 scholarship for a total of $29,000. We depend on donations to the fund from our many supporters. Thank you to all of you who have contributed and we hope your generosity will continue. We are confident that 2026 will be as successful as previous years. We're looking forward to reviewing all the applications we receive, and know that each and every one will show what wonderful, talented, and scholastically exceptional students we have in Columbia County.

Copies of the scholarship application are distributed to the high schools in Columbia County, registered with the Columbia County Department of Education, and available for download using the button below. The committee reviews every application. Decisions are made in an unbiased manner. We do not discriminate based on race, gender, religion or sexual orientation.

The decision to accept a student is based on whether he/she has completed the application correctly, grades, attitude, and the personal interview. The committee has to agree by a majority on a student who is either accepted or rejected. We do not follow up on how the money is spent as we feel that considering the cost of a college education today, the student is most qualified to determine how the award can best be used to serve his/her need.

If you know of a Columbia County High School Senior who may be interested in applying for the Scholarship, please pass this information on to them. Any questions should be directed to the Scholarship committee at columbiacntydems@aol.com.
